国際学会で発表するスライドに、Purposeというスライドタイトルをつけるのはアリでしょうか？自分は、研究目的をPurposeってあまり書かないような気がします。
そこで、研究目的のスライドタイトルとして、どんな英語表現が適切なのか、考えてみたいと思います。すぐに思いつくのは、aim, objective, goal, purposeですので、これらの意味の違いを考えてみましょう。
purpose は、意義、意味、動機といった意味においての「目的」です。人生の目的であれば purpose of life
aim もともとaim は的を狙うことですから、目的という意味でのaimは、具体的で焦点が絞られたものです。aim of the studyなど。グラントでは、Aim 1, Aim 2, Aim 3のように、aim を良く使うと思います。

上のグラントのサンプルでは、説明する際に、aim, objective, goalがinterchangeableに使われていました。
goal は、到達地点の意味ですから、到達地点、到達した状況といった意味での目的です。my goal as a coach is to ～
objective はどうでしょうか。あまりいい説明が思いつかないので、グーグル検索結果（Search Labs | AI による概要）を示しておきます。

- Aim（狙い）: 「基礎的なメカニズムを理解すること」として、研究全体の意図や方向性を表す。

なるほど、わかりやすい例文でした。抽象度の違いとして理解することもできると思います。一番具体的なのがobjectiveであり、一番抽象的なのがpurposeです。
結局、スライドタイトルでどの英単語を使うかは、そのスライドにどんな内容を書くか(どの程度具体的な内容か）で決まると思います。また、抽象ー具体は相対的なので、自分がどう捉えているかでも変わってくるでしょう。どの英単語を使っても大差ないこともあれば、ニュアンスの違いのせいで、不自然に感じる場合もあると思います。単に、Purpose と書いていたら自分は不自然に思います。Aim of the studyなどフレーズとして使うのが一般的ではないでしょうか。10分の学会発表なのか、45分のセミナーなのかでも、プレゼンする内容の抽象ー具体が変わってくるので、使う単語も変わってくるでしょう。
余談ですが、卒業研究の発表で、よく、スライドタイトルが「背景」、「目的」、「結果」、「考察」などと書いてあって、プレゼンをする学生が、「背景です。」、「目的です。」、「結果です。」、「考察です。」などと、ブツ切りの口調で発表しているのを見かけます。学会ではあまりそういった区切ったプレゼンは見かけないので、これは先輩から後輩へと受け継がれる卒研発表会独自の文化なのかもしれません。このノリで国際学会のスライドを Introduction, Purpose, Results, Discussionなどとしないほうがいいのではないかと思います。こういう見出しは使わず、もっとなめらかにトークがつながるようなスライドにしたほうが自然だと思います。かならずしも「目的」というスライドを出さなくてもよいのです。リサーチクエスチョンという形で提示するのも自然なことでしょう。
